I am grateful for rest. Why rest? Because rest is connected to work. After working on something and completing the task, rest feels so good. It is a blessing.
Genesis 2:1-3
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
In this scripture God rested because He had completed His work. Then He blessed this day of rest and set it apart. It was a special time. It is good to set time aside to rest from completing work that you do through your day, week, months, or even years. This is a time that is blessed and it is a blessing to you. It is a time well earned. It is a time to breath and see what you have done and rejoice in it. One thing to remember is that rest comes after completed work. Rest feels like a blessings because it is attached to hard work. Whatever you are working on, finish it. Do not rest until you are done. Many times we stop because we get tired. It is at this time that we risk not completing the task we have set out to do. These are the stories of giving up and quoting when things got hard. Do not grow weary and finish the work you have begun.
Remember Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing what is good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
What have you begun work in? Is it something simple like your daily laundry, or something more complicated like writing a book or getting out of debt? They all include some level of work. Finish the work and then you can sit back and rest. A this time you can recharge, reset, and begin a new work.
