I am grateful for a clean home. Yes, there is something about a clean home that gives me peace, but also a sense of victory. See, it takes effort and discipline to keep a clean home. It doesn’t just happen on its own. God promises to give us to the victory over our daily struggles. You know, those little things that need to be done everyday. Those things that when you complete, you will feel amazing and accomplished at the end of the day. When you don’t make the effort to complete them, it just stresses you out because you will have to fact it again tomorrow. Being grateful for a clean home lets me know I fought those daily battles to receive the victory God has promised me.
Deuteronomy 1:8
See, I have given you this land. Go and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give your fathers- to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob- and to their descendants after them.
God gave this land to the Israelites. It was theirs, but they had to take possession of it because there were others living in it. God said to take possession of it, which means to fight for it so they could get the victory over it. But here is where the story gets interesting. The Israelites were scared and failed to obey God to go and fight the battles that needed to be fought in order to take the land. They wandered for 40 years in the wilderness. It isn’t util the Book of Joshua that they fought the battle and claimed the land God promised them.
I have wandered in the wilderness of complaining about why my home is not organized, why I always have piles of laundry and dirty dishes in the sink. I stood up and faced my daily battles, made the effort to fight and have been victorious just as the Lord has promised.
What daily struggles do you face in your work, household, or school? Stand up and fight. Take control. Do what you need to do and you too will be victorious.
