I am grateful for Saturday mornings. During the week things just go on routine. You know, work, chores, school, appointments, cooking, etc. It can get quite busy for me as a mom and wife. I am sure it gets busy with you as well. I happen to be person of routine, which is good when you want to be consistent in doing things. But, sometimes it is necessary to break away from the routine. For me that is Saturday mornings. There is no schedule to follow or routine to keep. My mind rests and so does my body. It is important to break away to rest and recharge in our practical lives and spiritual lives. I am reminded of how crucial it is to break way during the day to be alone in prayer and communion with our Lord. Just like Saturday mornings gives me a break and allows me to rest my mind from my weekly routine, daily quite time with my Father allows me to rest and strengthen my spirit and faith in my day.
Luke 5:16
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely placed and prayed.
In Luke 5 Jesus heals a leper. Word spread of this healing and many came to Jesus for their healing. As you read Luke 5:12-16 you will see how many crowds came to hear him and be healed of their sickness. If you can just imagine for a moment how busy it must have been for Jesus with so many asking from him. Luke makes sure to mention that Jesus withdrew to lonely places to pray. This is how it was for Jesus through his ministry. Crowds surrounding him, but he took time to be alone with his Father.
We too should take time not just from our weekly routine to recharge our minds and bodies, but also take time throughout our day to recharge our faith and spirit in prayer with our Lord. The day can take a lot from us with all the things we need to get done. It is important that we refill ourselves in the Word so that we can continue to pour out to those we love. Time with the Lord strengthens us to keep pressing forward.
1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
