Find Encouragement in God’s Word

Have you ever been so excited about something the Lord put in your heart? You begin to work towards it and as days go by you might begin to doubt yourself.  I believe sometimes we expect others to give us the encouragement we need to continue in this journey the Lord has set us on. You know, like “Great job!” or “Way to go!”.  You will not always get that. We cannot rely on the world around us to give us that encouragement that feeds our passion and vision. You will slowly get discouraged and give up. That’s why begin to doubt ourselves and our abilities. We are starving our God given passion and vision.

As I was feeling a bit discourage myself, the Lord remined me of Matthew 4:4 “But Jesus told him, “No! The scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” At first, I was not quite sure why He reminded me of this particular scripture. As I meditated on it, it became clear to me that I was feeling discourage because I was depending on encouragement from others to feed this vision of encouraging other women through a blog and social media platforms. This kind of encouragement, although good, will not be consistent.  The Word of God is always there ready to feed your spirit and fill you with the nourishment you need to continue in your calling. In the Word of God, you find the truth of who you are and who God is in you.  You find refreshment after a long day and rest so you can continue building and working on your vision.  Jesus said in John 6:35 “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

When you are feeling doubtful or discouraged about something you were once excited about, something that the Lord began to work in you, I encourage you to read His Word and nourish your spirit. In it you will find the wisdom, strength, encouragement, and the fire you need to continue in your vision.

I am a wife and a mom. The Lord has been working in my life. Throughout the last four years, He has flipped my life upside down, healed my heart, and given me a passion and vision to reach out and encourage women with His word.
