Gratitude Journal Day 23

I am grateful for God’s promises. If He said it, I believe it. And because He is a promise keeping God, it makes me confident even when things seem fearful.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and staff, they comfort me.

The Lord supplies all our needs and He directs our path. But even though He is always with us, we will find ourselves walking though dark valleys at certain points in our lives. When the Lord begins to stir a desire in your heart to pursue something, you will be successful, but this will only happen if you are strong a courageous and you keep and follow his word. When He told Joshua that he would now lead the Israelites into the land He had promised their ancestors, God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous. If He had already promised to give them this land, why would God command Joshua to be strong and courageous?

Joshua 1:6

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

This land was already occupied by other people. Joshua and the Israelites would would have to face them and fight to take possession of this promise land. This can be a fearful thing to do. Even though God promised this land, they would have to walk through something that seemed scary, but knowing that God promised this and He keeps his promises, enabled Joshua to be obedient to God’s command to be strong and courageous and therefore be successful.

What has God put in your heart to step into? Does it seem scary and uncertain. I like to remember:

Philippians 2:13

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

He has given you the power to reach those desires. He said he would never leave you or forsake you. He said he would be with you always. So, if you find yourself at a point where it seems uncertain to you, but you know the Lord has called you to start moving towards something, do not fear. Keep going and know that He guides you and comforts you along the way.

I am a wife and a mom. The Lord has been working in my life. Throughout the last four years, He has flipped my life upside down, healed my heart, and given me a passion and vision to reach out and encourage women with His word.
